TIL that in 2007, two Cuban boxers, Erislandy Lara and Guillermo Rigondeaux, deserted the Cuban delegation during the Pan-American Games. The Brazilian authorities arrested and deported them back to Cuba, and in 2008 and 2009 both of them successfully defected to Mexico.
