Today I learned that "all bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon" is an example of a subsumptive containment hierarchy or "is-a" subsumption, where whiskey is the "superclass" and bourbon "is-a" subclass. The shorthand for this relationship is "Bourbon ⊆ Whiskey" or "Whiskey ⊇ Bourbon".
