TIL Korea's Royal Palace was burnt down during the 1592 Japanese invasions and left in ruins for over 250 years. It was rebuilt in the 1860s but later destroyed by Japan to build the colonial government building in its place. As of now, work has been ongoing for over 4 decades to restore the site.
