TIL Nanjing once had a large Forbidden City Palace complex built by the first Ming Emperor Hongwu in the fourteenth century that is now in ruins. Plans were made to build a Presidential Palace on the former Ming Palace grounds when Nanjing became the Chinese Capital again in 1928
