TIL the poison fire coral fungus is native to Asia and is responsible for a number of fatalities in Japan and Korea. Its potent mycotoxins known as trichothecenes can cause multiple organ failure if consumed and severe dermatitis if touched. This fungus can be easily confused with edible varieties.
