TIL that Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode was originally wrote as a slow ballad. Despite some hesitation, and insistence from Alan Wilder, songwriter Martin Gore rewrote it to be more up-tempo. The song went on to become the band's most successful single worldwide.
