TIL Fiat's Lingotto factory was built in 1923 as five stories with a racetrack on top. With an upward assembly line, production began at the bottom floor and progressed upward until completion. When a Fiat finished its climb through 16,000,000 sq. feet, it exited by roof and was raced by employees.
