TIL that the longest lightning bolt ever recorded was 440 miles (708 km) long, nearly stretching from one end of Brazil to the other. The lightning bolt occurred on October 31, 2018, and broke the previous record of a 199-mile (321 km) lightning bolt recorded in the US state of Oklahoma in 2007.
