TIL That James Poppen performed lobotomy on Eva Peron without her consent to help manage pain from cervical cancer. At Juan Peron’s request, Poppen tested the procedure on Argentinian prisoners to show its effectiveness. After the surgery, she stopped eating and died in 1952.
