TIL of Albert Gunter, a bus driver during the Great Smog of London 1952. Not realising Tower Bridge was raising, he made a spit second decision to jump the 6ft gap in his 12,000kg double decker bus at 12mph. He was awarded £5 (£245 current value) and a day off for his bravery.

0wm11 TIL an 11-yr-old girl in Zimbabwe rescued her 9-yr-old friend from a crocodile. Rebecca Munkombwe saw her friend being pulled under when swimming in a stream; she swam over, jumped on top of the croc & poked its eyes till it released its grip on her friend's leg. The 9-yr-old got only mild injuries.
