TIL the phrase“bleeding heart liberal” came from Pulitzer Price winning journalist, Westbrook Pegler in 1933. He used the phrase denouncing an anti-lynching bill before Congress. He also finished 3rd in Times Man of the Year behind FDR and Stalin in 1941.
