TIL that at the first appearance of basketball in the Olympics in 1936 (in Germany), it was played outdoors on lawn and dirt tennis courts. The final was held in a downpour which made it so muddy they couldn't dribble. Final score was 19-8 USA over Canada, top scorer had 8 points.
