TIL about Adolph Metzger, a bugler who used his instrument as a weapon until it was battered shapeless in the Fetterman Fight. Metzger was the only soldier whose dead body was not mutilated. Instead the Indians covered him with a buffalo hide. His dented bugle is now displayed in a Wyoming museum.
