TIL that Benjamin Franklin, to drive sales of his almanac, predicted that a rival publisher would die on a certain date. When the rival didn’t die, Franklin published his obituary anyway and claimed the rival was an imposter. After the rival’s death, Franklin commended the imposters for stopping.
