TIL that Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the Unites States during World War 2, was paralyzed from the waist down. He mostly used a wheelchair for mobility, and during public appearances he would use heavy leg braces in order to be seen standing. He suffered from a 'paralytic illness'.
