TIL during the filming of Maidstone (1970) actor Rip Torn struck fellow actor Norman Mailer with a hammer, resulting in a brawl between the actors in which Mailer bit into Torn’s ear and Torn furiously choked Mailer on the ground. The scene was captured on camera and is in the final cut of the film
