TIL in the 1860s, before he invented Coca-Cola, John Pemberton created French Wine Coca which was wine mixed with cocaine, and when ingested forms the drug cocaethylene which is 20 times deadlier than cocaine itself. The drink was so popular that the Pope allegedly carried a flask of it with him.
