TIL about Miklós Nyiszli, a Jewish-Hungarian inmate at Auschwitz. As a doctor by profession, he had to assist Dr. Mengele in cruel "experiments" and could in return live within a room inside Crematorium II. He survived and never again worked with a scalpel after the war.
