TIL that while Sonora Smart Dodd heard a church sermon about Mother’s Day she felt that fatherhood needed recognition as well. She approached a church and suggested June 5th (her father’s birthday) as the day of honour for fathers. The church chose the third Sunday in June to be Father’s Day.
