TIL There is still a WWII Landing Ship in service in the US as a car ferry. LST-510 Buncombe County was commissioned in 1944, landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day, and currently serves passengers between Connecticut and Long Island. It is perhaps the last D-Day ship still operating.
