ep7kg TIL about Rosie Ruiz. She was the "Winner" of the Boston Marathon in 1980 only to be found out that she cheated. She qualified by being a NY Marathon runner of which was found to be false as well. She was also convicted of fraud in 1982 and cocaine distribution in 1983.
QJKpa TIL in 1977, the Formula 1 driver, Hans Heyer, was not allowed to start a race after failing to qualify. He snuck onto the circuit with his car and decided to race anyway. It took officials 6 laps to notice and disqualify him from a race he wasn't even technically in.
