TIL that actor Sterling Hayden (Johnny Guitar, The Killing) was an OSS agent during World War II under the alias 'John Hamilton'. His work with Yugoslav partisans influenced him to briefly join the Communist Party, but he left quickly and later named names before the HUAC.
