TIL the Bramble Cay Melomys is among the first mammals to disappear because of failure to adapt in the modern era. Some time between 2009 and 2014 the last of this species died, probably drowning in a storm surge on an island off the coast of Australia where it had thrived for thousands of years.

OoQr7 TIL for the catching-a-fly-with-chopsticks scene in the "Karate Kid", they first tired regular flies but that didn't work. Then they tried refrigerated flies (they fly slower) but that didn't work. Finally they took a piece of sweater fuzz and just hung it on a string and that finally worked.
