TIL when the Rwandan Genocide began, to seek safety from Hutu militias, 2000 Tutsi refugees fled to a school where Belgian UN peacekeepers were stationed. On orders from their government they pulled out 3 days later. The militias were waiting outside. After they left, the refugees were slaughtered.
