TIL Fela Kuti's 1977 album Zombie was critical of the Nigerian government and referred to soldiers as zombies who blindly followed orders. In anger, they raided Kuta's commune and severely beat Kuta and his mother. She was thrown from a second floor window resulting in a coma which led to her death.
