TIL: In 1972 a Royal Air Force Harrier was struck in the engine intake by a large bird. After hearing irregular sounds in the engine the pilot ejected, only to watch his plane ascend beautifully into the clouds. It flew for 38 miles without a pilot before running out of fuel.
