TIL Sigurd the Mighty, the Second Earl of Orkney who reigned between 875–892, was killed by by an infected wound after he strapped the decapitated head of Máel Brigte the Bucktoothed to his horse. The bouncing head and jaw chewed into Sigurd's leg on his victorious ride home from their fight.

TIL MTV banned Beavis and Butthead from referencing fire, specifically Beavis’ “Fire” chant, after an arson was blamed on the show. In response, the show had Beavis chant words similar to fire such as fryer. The ban was lifted for the revival and Beavis says fire 7 times in the first video segment.
