TIL that Italy had a king during Benito Mussolini’s entire reign. While he advised Mussolini not to enter the war, he ignored the regime’s abuses until the Allied invasion; he then kicked Mussolini out of office and sided with the Allies. He later went into exile and the monarchy was abolished.
