TIL of Howard Hill, considered by many to be the greatest archer of all time. In 1938 he made the most iconic archery shot in literature: Robin Hood splitting a target-embedded arrow with his own. He is also the first white man to kill an elephant using only a bow and arrow.

ArAg TIL that a “blind pig” was a lower-class establishment that sold alcohol during Prohibition (in contrast to a higher-class “speakeasy”). The owner would charge customers to see an attraction (such as an animal) and then serve a “complimentary” alcoholic beverage, thus circumventing the law.
