TIL 'Golden Age' 3-D movies had a built-in intermission point around the 50 minute mark. Carbon arc rods on the projectors used for the light source could not burn for more than an hour. The intermission would last 10 minutes, enough time to re-thread both projectors and install new carbon rods.
