TIL Roger Babson founded the "Gravity Research Foundation" in 1948 an effort to fight gravity, after the childhood drowning of his sister who couldn't overcome gravity. Post-death it became a foundation for understanding, where notable researchers including Stephen Hawking won their essay prizes.
