TIL that a toilet break once sank a submarine. When the captain of U-1206 was unable to operate the toilet, he called in an engineer, who flipped the wrong switch, causing water to flood in and filled the ship with chlorine gas. The ship surfaced, was spotted, and was attacked and scuttled.
