TIL that Andrei Chikatilo, who violently murdered 52 people in the Soviet Union from 1978-90, was initially cleared as a suspect in 1984 because his blood type was A while the semen found at the crime scenes was AB. His second arrest revealed his blood and semen belonged to different blood groups.
