TIL that the Hope Diamond was once owned by King Louis XIV of France. Louis purchased the diamond in 1668, and started wearing it in 1673, after which it became known as the "French Blue". It was set in gold, and suspended on a neck ribbon, which King Louis XIV wore on ceremonial occasions.
