TIL about Lydia Litvyak aka White Lily of Stalingrad, the world's first female fighter pilot to score a kill in combat and later to become the first of the only two female fighter aces, scoring 12 solo and 4 team aerial victories in about a year of active combat duty. She was KIA aged 21 years old.
