TIL: During the kidnapping of Israeli athletes at the Olympic games in 1972, police dressed as athletes were planning to sneak attack the kidnappers. But local television crews were broadcasting them on live TV and the kidnappers were made aware of the plan.

TIL 10 days into the shoot for The Wizard of Oz, Buddy Ebsen suffered a reaction to the aluminum powder makeup he wore; the powder he breathed in daily as it was applied had coated his lungs. Ebsen was hospitalized in critical condition. He was later put in an iron lung.
