TIL about Desmond Doss, an American combat medic in WW2 who single-handedly rescued an estimate of 75 men in Okinawa in one battle, one at a time, without carrying a single weapon. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery, and was the first conscientious objector to be given it.
