TIL Famed Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen once believed tamed polar bears would be a better choice than dogs for pulling sledges. He tried to tame a bear cub he’d captured on a trip to the Arctic but killed it with chloroform after it attacked him. The stuffed cub resides in a museum near Oslo.
