TIL Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo was partly due to a volcanic eruption in Indonesia. Electrically charged volcanic ash short-circuited Earth's atmosphere in 1815, causing global poor weather. Rainy and muddy conditions helped the Allied army defeat Napoleon.
