TIL: Vanilla comes from a flowering plant in the orchid family. It grows as a vine and flowers only bloom for one day. There is only a 1% chance of wild pollination so each flower must be hand pollinated. The fruits are 15–23 cm (6–9 in) long pods and are used to produce vanilla extract.
