TIL of “Explosion,” a dog given to a radio crew stationed on Kiska in the Aleutians by a departing soldier. The IJN subsequently invaded the island and captured the radio-men, but Explosion survived 15 months in the mountains and was reunited with his original owner during the US counter-invasion.
