TIL that I've been calling everything an ACRONYM when in fact they could instead be an INITIALISM. An acronym can be spoken like a word e.g. FIFA, NASA, RAM, where as an initialism cannot be easily spoken as a word e.g. FBI, CIA, UFO, HSBC, and are instead pronounced letter by letter.

TIL that Dracula was heavily inspired by Henry Irving, Bram Stoker’s employer. Stoker was close friends with Irving, who was described by others as “a self-absorbed and profoundly manipulative man.”

TIL William Banning (father of a soldier who was killed in the Korean war) sent his son’s purple heart, and an angry letter to Harry Truman, blaming him for his son’s death. Both items were found in Truman’s desk after he died 20 years later.
