TIL that Newgrange is a 5,000-year-old tomb and time-telling device. At dawn from Dec. 19th-23rd, a narrow beam of light penetrates the passage chamber and the entire room becomes dramatically illuminated for just 17 minutes. There is a lottery to determine the few witnesses of the event each year.
