TIL Zebrafish can produce their own sunscreen, a chemical called gadusol which protects the fish against harmful UV radiation. Scientists are also now learning that many species of vertebrates, mammals excluded, produce gadusol. Zebrafish can also regenerate their hearts during their larval stages.
