TIL in 1864 when Congress reintroduced the Nickel currency bill they wanted the likeness of Clark on the bill, in reference to soldier William Clark, however the head of the Currency Bureau Spencer M. Clark used his own likeness, which directly led to the abolishment of the Nickel currency bill.
