TIL that in 1958, a U.S. Air Force bomber accidentally dropped a nuclear bomb on South Carolina. The bomb didn’t have its nuclear core installed, but when it hit the ground, its conventional explosives went off. The blast injured six people and damaged several buildings in the area.
