TIL George Picquart, an anti-semitic French army officer, helped to convict fellow officer Alfred Dreyfus, a Jew, of treason. Subsequently promoted to lead the secret intelligence service, he then discovered and exposed the conspiracy that had framed Dreyfus, eventually toppling the government.
