TIL that wild camels used to roam British Columbia for 43 years. During the gold rush people thought it was a good idea to use camels as pack animals. Their soft feet ended out making them ill suited for the rocky terrain. They were let loose and multiple generations survived, last seen 1905.

TIL: the White Pine tree was one of the major symbols of the American Revolution. Following the White Pines Act and subsequent Pine Riots (similar to the Tea act and Tea Party), the tree was featured on some of the new nation's first coinage and flags, and is still officially used in some roles.
