TIL about Pedro Alonso Nino, a Black-Spanish explorer who piloted The Santa Maria on Columbus’s first voyage to America. He comes from the famed Nino Brothers. The La Niña, another of Columbus ships was actually owned by Pedro’s brother, Juan.
