TIL of Axel von dem Bussche who was chosen to model a new winter uniform in front of Hitler in 1943. He had planned to hug Hitler then detonate a landmine in his pocket, killing the both of them. The plan fell through when a traincar carrying the uniforms was destroyed by the Allies.
